Carol Hicks is a Regional Math Specialist in Southeast Idaho with over 30 years of experience teaching mathematics across grade levels. Her work focuses on helping teachers and students discover the joy and power of math. As Principal Investigator for the Accelerated Math Learning Collaborative, Carol partners with educators to implement research-based strategies that strengthen instruction and address learning loss. She is passionate about bridging the gap between ideal math teaching practices and real classroom challenges. Carol supports teachers in turning big ideas into effective, practical strategies that promote deep understanding and meaningful discourse. Her background includes classroom teaching, curriculum development, mentoring, and leading professional development. When she’s not collaborating with educators, Carol enjoys time with her kids and grandkids and traveling with her husband, Wally.
