Birding & Kayaking at Esther Simplot Ponds LIMITED

Join Golden Eagle Audubon Society trained leaders for a walk through Esther Simplot Park and the Boise Greenbelt. Esther Simplot Park is a 55-acre recreational area next to the Boise River, and is home to a variety of wetland birds and animals. The pace will be slow to allow everyone to enjoy the birds and observe any interesting behavior. We'll be on the lookout for cormorants, herons, swallows, warblers, hummingbirds and wrens, as well as ducks and waterfowl. Be prepared to walk about 2 miles on paved trails. Bring water and your binoculars or borrow some from us. Please wear water clothes and bring sunscreen and a towel.

Come and explore coding in the classroom with databots as our base technology! Field trip will include integrating Idaho’s current Technology standards with ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies standards via design thinking strategies using databots, AI tools, suite software, and hands-on activities. Possible integration of web-based software could be included, such as Minecraft, Scratch, or CodeHS.
Those who commit to the following work sessions will get to leave the field trip with two databots! Plus, you may earn one credit from Idaho State University at no cost for you!

Note: This field experience will cost attendees $29.00. Experience Physics at Roaring Springs! Learn how to capture and analyze motion using Vernier’s Video Analysis app. Record videos of participants on water park rides, then determine velocity and acceleration using the browser-based app on on a laptop or Chromebook. Perfect for grades 6–12 in math, physical science, or physics teachers or anyone looking to bring real-world data into the classroom. Participants will need a phone to record video and laptop or chromebook to analyze the footage.
